Itinerary

  • 4:00 am: Time to visit Machu Picchu! Early pick-up from your hotel in Cusco and private transportation to the Ollantaytambo train station.
  • 6:10 am: Board the Expedition train toward Aguas Calientes, traveling through the Sacred Valley and along the Vilcanota River toward the cloud forest.
  • 8:00 am (approx.): Arrive in Aguas Calientes, where your guide or transfer will meet you and accompany you to the bus station.
  • 8:30 am: Take the bus for approximately 30 minutes up to Machu Picchu.
  • 9:00 am: Enter Machu Picchu and begin your guided visit of approximately 2 to 3 hours. Explore the main sectors of the citadel, including its temples, plazas, terraces and ceremonial areas.
  • 12:00 pm: Finish your guided visit and take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes.
  • 1:00 pm: Free time in Aguas Calientes for lunch and to explore the town before your afternoon train.
  • 2:30–3:45 pm: Board your Expedition train back toward Ollantaytambo. The exact departure time will depend on the train schedule assigned to your booking.
  • 4:30–5:30 pm (approx.): Arrive at Ollantaytambo train station, where your private transportation will be waiting for the return journey to Cusco.
