Itinerary

  • 8:30 am: Time to explore the South Valley! Pick-up from your hotel in Cusco and begin the drive south through the Andean countryside toward Andahuaylillas.
  • 9:30 am: Arrive in the town of Andahuaylillas and visit the Church of Saint Peter, often called the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” for its impressive colonial artwork, murals and ornate interior decoration.
  • 10:30 am: Continue to Piquillacta, one of the best-preserved pre-Inca archaeological sites in the Cusco region and an important settlement of the Wari culture.
  • 11:00 am: Explore Piquillacta with your guide, discovering its ancient streets, walls, terraces and carefully planned urban layout while enjoying views of the surrounding mountains and wetlands.
  • 12:00 pm: Continue toward Tipón, passing through traditional Andean landscapes and small communities along the way.
  • 12:30 pm: Arrive at Tipón, an impressive Inca archaeological site famous for its sophisticated hydraulic engineering. Explore the terraces, channels and ceremonial fountains where water still flows through the original Inca system.
  • 1:30 pm: Head to the nearby town of Tipón for lunch and the opportunity to try a traditional Cusco specialty, including the region’s famous baked guinea pig if you wish.
  • 2:30 pm: Begin the return journey to Cusco, traveling back through the South Valley.
  • 3:30 pm (approx.): Arrive at your hotel in Cusco, marking the end of your South Valley experience.
