Travel in Peru

Velflor Travel Peru operates in regions where standards of accommodation can vary. Transportation and services might not be like those you would normally have back home. However, we strive with all care and skill to provide the best service for our clients.

Travelling in Peru requires flexibility, patience, an open mind, and a good sense of humor. Please understand that changes may be made without notice due to circumstances or occurrences beyond our control, such as strikes, protests, landslides, bad weather, or other unforeseen events. By booking any of our tours or treks, you agree to allow Velflor Travel Peru to make necessary changes without liability.

Force Majeure

Force Majeure is any event that Velflor Travel Peru cannot, even with all due care, foresee, control, or avoid. This covers events such as war or threat of war, riots, civil strikes, terrorist activity, industrial disputes, disease, natural disasters, adverse weather conditions, fire, or other similar events beyond our control.

In such cases, Velflor Travel Peru will not accept liability and reserves the right to change, postpone, or cancel trips when necessary.

Incremental Change in Case of Protests or Strikes

In the event of a protest or strike, it may be necessary to leave one or even two days earlier than scheduled in order to comply with other services and logistical requirements. In such cases, there may be an additional fee depending on the situation.

Risks

By booking any of our adventure trips, including the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Lares, Salkantay treks, and other adventure experiences, you assume the risks associated with personal accidents, medical emergencies, air travel problems, and other circumstances inherent to travel and adventure activities.

For these treks and tours, Velflor Travel Peru accepts no responsibility for such risks.

Sending Your Primary Departure Date and Backup Date

When providing us with a primary date and a secondary date for your trek, such as the Classic Inca Trail, Lares, Salkantay, or a tour to Machu Picchu, you automatically authorize Velflor Travel Peru to use either of those dates for your reservation.

After we have received your booking form and confirmed that your deposit has been successfully made, Velflor Travel Peru will send you the final reconfirmation via email. We will also reconfirm the exact departure date of your trek. You should receive the reconfirmation email within 48 hours.

Sending Us Your Personal Details for Booking

Your passport number and other personal information must be valid. Please advise us immediately if your passport number changes after booking your tour. This is especially important when booking any trek or tour to Machu Picchu.

Please ensure that your passport has at least six months of validity when you enter Peru. Your personal information will not be shared with any other company or person in Peru and will not be used for any purpose other than that for which it was provided.

Changes Made by the Client

The person who signs the reservation order is the only person who can make changes to the tour, trek, or any trip.

A $35 USD order fee is charged to make any changes. All efforts will be made to accommodate the requested changes. However, changes are not guaranteed and there may be additional costs associated with them.

Please Note: For the Inca Trail, permits and Machu Picchu entrance tickets are non-changeable, non-transferable, and non-refundable. Dates cannot be changed due to government regulations.

Changes and Cancellations by Velflor Travel Peru

We always make our best efforts to carry out tours and services according to the original schedules listed in the reservation order. However, by entering into this agreement with Velflor Travel Peru, the client accepts that necessary changes may need to be made to a tour, trek, or any trip due to prevailing conditions, as described in the Force Majeure section above.

Velflor Travel Peru reserves the right to change or cancel any facilities or services and substitute them with reasonable alternatives of comparable value.

In the event of a major change, the client will be notified as soon as possible and will be provided with available options regarding the change.

About the Briefing

The night before your trek, there will be a pre-trek talk (briefing) at our office at either 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm. The exact time will be confirmed upon your arrival or by email.

A duffel bag will be provided. If you have paid for a sleeping bag, it will be given to you at this time.

Before coming to the briefing, please review our packing checklist. You will find all the items you will need to take for the trek.

Preparing for Your Trip

Travel Documents

It is your responsibility to obtain the appropriate documents. This includes passports, visas, tourist cards, and immunizations required for the country or countries you are visiting.

Those traveling with underage persons should contact their international carrier to obtain the necessary requirements for travel with minors. Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult parent, guardian, or relative with the proper documentation.

Please note that we will use the passport information you provide in your booking form to reserve hotels, trains, flights, and the Inca Trail, where applicable.

If you have changed or renewed your passport, please be sure to carry both the old and new passports. If it is not possible to carry both, you must notify us of your new passport number at least 90 days prior to your trip. This helps avoid confusion with your bookings.

We will not use your information for any purpose other than that for which it was provided.

Health Requirements

Please contact your local health authorities for immunization requirements for the countries you will be visiting.

You can also find information regarding required immunizations through the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Some immunizations require up to one month to take effect. You may be required to receive certain immunizations or sign a release form when visiting specific zones.

The client is responsible for obtaining this information before traveling to Peru and complying with the applicable requirements.

You must provide us with any relevant health information regarding conditions or documentation that may affect your ability to travel or pose a danger to yourself or others.

Velflor Travel Peru does not provide medical advice regarding recommended immunizations.

Travel Insurance

Velflor Travel Peru does not provide travel insurance. Approval of one of our trips in no way implies that you or your travel companions will be insured.

We strongly recommend that you purchase a single-trip travel insurance policy within 15 days of payment for your trip.

Trip cancellation insurance can reimburse air and land travel costs if you need to cancel your trip due to a personal or family emergency. Emergency medical evacuation insurance and emergency medical expense coverage are also strongly recommended.

Important note: Please send us a scanned copy of your travel insurance policy at least 15 days before your tour begins. This will allow us to provide the appropriate assistance and service during your trip.

Liability

Velflor Travel Peru is not liable for any injury, damage, loss, inconvenience, irregularity, or delay resulting directly or indirectly from fortuitous acts, detention, quarantines, civil disturbances, criminal activity, government regulations, or other circumstances over which it has no control.

Because of this, it is necessary that tour participants inform us of any circumstances that might affect the normal development of their trip, including previous health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or other relevant medical conditions.

Providing this information allows us to work together to address potential problems and take appropriate measures during the trip.
